A surprised from 7 yo kid!

Last week my old classmates from college had appointment to do a photography hunting day on old city Semarang, my city. It's a coastal city on north Java island in Indonesia. That area - the old city- was a former Dutch colony.
My friends did the photo hunting a whole day there, walking around the old city area, found many interesting objects.
My 7 yo kid, Ian accompanied us and I gave him a simple Canon digital piocket camera.
But oh my....when my friends and I saw his pictures for the first time...we all surprised!!
These are very good work from an 7 yo kid, my friends told me :)
Actually that moment was the first time he really into in taking pictures.
And I surprised he enjoyed very very much!!
I could only accompany my friends for half day because I had to take my cello class and just let him joined my friends until afternoon.
Also surprised he didn't look for me for the rest of that day until I picked him up, hehe...
Enjoy his pictures...

These 2 pictures of my husband and I were taking by Ian when we're at -the Peek- a Contemporary Art Gallery also located in the old city.

This was my husband's idea ...being 'similar' with the statue :)

Hunting for Batik

When we went to Jogja (a city at Central Java) last weekend, three of us (Rani-my bestfrind, my daughter and I) were hunting batik cloth in a traditional market at Malioboro Street. Batik is a Javanese traditional cloth, maybe some of you had already knew it. Batik has also become a national cloth of Indonesian. We’re a little bit confused to see many kinds of batik, I mean confused to choose which one we want since all of the batik cloths were beautiful. Like most women in the world…we love shopping, spent much time for it, happily doing it, and the most interesting part for us were the prices… Quite cheap! It range between 2 – 10 U$, but finally Rani was the one that bought a lot of batik cloths. Maybe because she’s the one that lived far away from her motherland so when she was here, she wasn’t wasting this rare opportunity.
Here is some of our hunting for batik cloths.

Now my daughter and I haven’t make up our mind yet what we want to do with the batik cloths we had :-) We want our batik cloths become our special clothes. Have an idea for us?

Welcome 'Sesame Street' Indonesia

Welcome to Sesame Street Indonesia! In Indonesian version and language this time.
I'm very pleased to know finally there is a very good program for kids here in my country. Since there are so many uneducated shows on local channels TV here, it would like an 'oasis' to watch "Jalan Sesama" (this is the Indonesian version of 'Sesame Street', not have exactly the same meaning, but the same sound).
I had suggested parents from the preschool I managed to let their kids know this program. Unfortunately, the timing of this program is not comfortable for all kids to watch. It shows every Tuesday afternoon - 1.30pm at Trans 7 Channel. Weird time for kids, isn't it? Couldn't be seen by every kids! Maybe I should write to them to change the time. Hehe..

For almost the last 2 year I wouldn't allowed my kids for watching most of the local TV channels. Their programs only full of jealousy, rivalry, hit and hurt each other...such like that. My hubby finally chose to subscribe one of cable TV program. I didn't say that that the program we subscribe is really good for kids, but at least they could watch National Geographic, Sesame Street, world news and many good quality programs.
I wonder those other Indonesian kids that comes from lower income families. What are their choices for their kids to watch? They don't have any choice at all. Wow, what are we hoped then from my kids generation later when they usually watch that kind of 'junkies' programs.

So, I really appreciated to those people 'behind the screen' that willing their money to buy such a good program for kids to watch on local TV channel. Thank you..
